Will Kim Jones Bring Streetwear to Dior Homme?

When Kim Jones stepped down from his artistic director position in Louis Vuitton, there were rumors that he was moving to Burberry. But yesterday, it was confirmed that he’s now Dior Homme’s artistic director.

Kim will succeed Kris Van Assche, who was Dior Homme’s artistic director for 11 years. According to WWD, he will start on April 1 and will present his first ready-to-wear and accessories collection in June.

“I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones, with whom I had the chance to collaborate previously at Louis Vuitton,” said Christian Dior Couture CEO and chairman Pietro Beccari. “I admire his creative vision, which combines both his own inspirations of contemporary culture and his own reinterpretation of specific codes and heritage of a house. I am confident in his ability to recreate his universe within the maison Dior and imagine for Dior Homme an elegant and resolutely modern wardrobe.”

Kim is known for reinventing LV’s menswear with streetwear elements. His vision also resulted in the successful collaboration with Supreme. Now the question is if he’ll carry this over to Dior Homme and create streetwear basics for the label? Well, he did promise to “create a modern and innovative male silhouette built upon the unique legacy of the house.” So we’ll just have to wait for his upcoming collection to find out.
