Fashion brands have seen the error of their ways and have started to go fur-free. Gucci announced their sustainability plan last year while Donatella Versace claimed she was out of it. The next designer to follow suit is John Galliano, creative director of Maison Margiela.
According to Nylon, John said in an interview, “Today we don’t want a product, we want ethics, a firm that defends the values that we admire.” Apparently, one of John’s longtime friends is Dan Matthews, who is the senior vice president of PETA. He also, “[credited] his fur-free move and his decision to go vegetarian to a run-in with [Dan].”
I guess we won’t be seeing any fur looks on Margiela runways. But now that many designers have put their foot down for this cause, who do you think will be the next?
