These Louboutin Bags Got Unexpected Inspiration From Manila

“I have always been captivated by the Philippines’ beauty,” Christian Louboutin said in a press release. The legendary designer has visited our country a few times now, inspiring him to create the Manilacaba Treasure Tote.

Just like his previous Treasure Cabas, this collection aims to promote the Philippines’ culture as Louboutin “worked closely with local Filipino artisans” to do the embroidery and beading for the bags. The designer was also inspired by the colorful jeepneys he saw while he was here.

“Christian Louboutin pays homage to the city’s heritage by adorning the front panel of Manilacaba with a shimmering Jeepney, rendered in hand-applied sequin embroidery,” Louboutin World wrote on Instagram. The colorful designs symbolize Manila’s sights and sounds, as well as the city’s celebratory spirit.

The bags were also created in partnership with Great Women ASEAN, which is a platform supporting the craftsmanship and economic empowerment of Asian women artisans. These included B’laan and Yakan weavers.

The Manilacaba Tote Bag is available online on Neiman Marcus (P89,812) and Bergdorf Goodman ($1,590). There’s also free shipping for both sites. For every purchase of the bag, 10 percent of it will go to the benefit and development of Great Women ASEAN.

So, are you copping a Manilacaba anytime soon?
