Beach time under the rain: How to dress up right when it pours

Now that summer’s over, you’d think that no one is going to the beach anymore. But nope, we still saw a lot of people when we went to La Union recently and they didn’t let a little rain stop them from playing in the water. Though some surfers might’ve gotten out of the water when the weather didn’t cooperate.

We wore cover-ups and hoodies over our swimsuits while we were walking to get lunch. So when the rain stopped or if we wanted to swim, it was easy for us to take them off. We also made sure our stuff stayed dry since not all of us brought umbrellas.

Do you have a beach trip planned out too but not sure whether there’ll be a rainstorm or not? It’s best to prepare yourself and bring items like the ones we listed below just in case.

Faithfull the Brand Mazur Stripe Print Lara Top and Chrissy Bottom

Don’t let the rain stop you from wearing your swimsuit. If it’s not too stormy and you feel like it’s safe to wear a bikini, go for this one from Faithfull the Brand. Lara is a bralette bikini top with a scoop neckline and a thick tie straps at the back, while Chrissy is a thong-style bottomAvailable online.

This piece from Topshop comes in various colors from sunny orange to pale pink. It has a straight neckline, skinny straps, and a low back detail. Available at Shangri-La Plaza.

Seafolly Hooded Crinkle Twill Cover Up

This cover-up doubles as a hoodie dress. It’s made from cotton, has a front pocket and a drawstring hood you can put up when it starts drizzling. Also keep in mind that it’s a little translucent too so this might not be ideal if you get cold easily. Available at Rustan’s Makati.

Keep your phone and other essentials dry by putting them in Viajecito’s Splashkit. It’s made from a rubber-like waterproof material and the best part is there are many color options to choose from.
