Aside from celebrities, we also look to the royal family for fashion inspiration. We’ve talked about Meghan Markle’s wardrobe and how royal women are making tights cool again. But let’s pause and focus on the lady who started it all: Queen Elizabeth II. At 92 years old, her outfits are far from drab and boring. At royal events you can easily spot her because she’s the one rocking colorful hats and coats. At more formal events, she has on jewelry we wish we all had. But she knows how to keep it casual too in preppy outfits. So, if you want to dress like the Queen, take a look at our favorite looks and similar pieces you can get.
Shoe of choice

Amongst her bright-colored separates and printed dresses, you will see that the Queen prefers to wear a loafer-type shoe. These usually have a square or rounded toe and a small heel, nothing crazy. For something similar, cop this pair. It’s plain black and has tapered heel. This is actually a great shoe option for work.
Fancy florals

Aside from bright colors, the Queen can also be spotted in floral pieces. These are usually dresses so pick one up for yourself. This dress is also cream-colored and has pink and yellow flowers. It’s made of a linen and cotton mix, making it breezy. To finish off your outfit, throw on a pair of sandals and a sun hat.
Colored coats

Queen Elizabeth’s go-to piece is a long coat in different bold colors. She has a lot of them from purple to red, and even yellow and green. One of our favorites is this baby pink one complete with matching hat. Zara has a similar one but with ruffled sleeves and a zip closure. Like the queen, you can go for an all-pink outfit or make this the statement piece of you look.
Covered in beads

Aside from her more casual looks, the Queen knows how to glam up too. While hosting a dinner for the representatives and heads of government to celebrate the commonwealth, she wore a white beaded gown. The sparkles on the dress complemented the shine coming from the royal jewels. Get the same effect when you’re attending a party with a short white dresses embellished with gold sequins and beads. If you don’t have a crown, accessorize with a necklace instead.
Textured tweed

If you want to know how to wear tweed the right way, take notes from the Queen. Last year, she went to Aberdeen to open the Robertson Family Roof Garden at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. During that event, she wore a blue tweed coat with a matching hat. For something similar, cop this jacket. It is also made of tweed but comes in a dark blue shade with fringe detail.
Plaid and pleats

The Queen can rock a preppy look too. In September of last year, she met Julie Payette who is an astronaut, engineer, and scientific broadcaster. During their meeting an Balmoral Castle, she wore a red top, cardigan, and plaid skirt. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear that outfit too?
