Gucci Generation
Right after the CFDA Awards, New York played host to this year’s Gucci cruise collection to cap off an eventful week in fashion. Creative director Alessandro Michele doesn’t hold back in reinventing the established brand. What used to be chic, sleek, and honestly, unreachable is now becoming relatable. “You imagine they might read Sartre, neck some beers and go gallery hopping together in Dalston, Williamsburg or their global equivalents. These are clothes that are aspirational in a way that feels more tangible because these live and breathing characters have inhabited them,” writes Susie Bubble after seeing a montage of animal prints, tasseled shoes, and rugged men in ill-fitting attire on the runway of Gucci’s cruise collection.
