Wearing plaid doesn’t always make you look like a schoolgirl

If you went to a Catholic school, you most likely had to wear some sort of plaid every day as part of your uniform. I went to an all-girl Catholic school for 12 years so I know what it feels like. At some point, the print just becomes a part of who you are, even after you graduate. However, after wearing plaid for so many years, you might be hesitant to wear that print again for fear of coming off as a schoolgirl. Luckily for all of us, there are plaid pieces that are actually modern, chic, and sexy. Don’t believe me? Check out these celebrities who have been spotted in plaid clothing,

Plaid pants

Shop: Topshop Blue Check Trousers. Available at SM Aura Premier.

You most probably wore plaid skirts to school but imagine if you had the option to wear pants. Julie Anne San Jose gave us a glimpse of what that might be like with this outfit. It was a matching trouser and blazer set with a blue base. These Topshop pants have a similar vibe but with prints being in red, pink, and yellow.

Plaid blazer

Shop: Stradivarius Buttoned Checked Blazer. Available at Glorietta 2.

A plaid blazer is a perfect jacket to wear to work. You can wear basics underneath and throw this on to add some life to your look. Gabbi Garcia recently wore a black and white one, a color combination that will match anything.

Plaid crop top

Shop: Bershka Checked Top. Available at SM Megamall.

Crop tops don’t have to be plain and boring, try wearing patterned ones like Anne Curtis. This one comes in blue, red, and green. It also has a matching skirt but you can wear it with jeans or a high-waisted skirt.

Plaid skirt

Shop: H&M Knee-length Skirt. Available at Uptown Mall.

The skirt that you wore to school was probably the least flattering thing in your closet. But, now, you can wear a plaid skirt that will actually look good on you. Heart Evangelista shows us that it can be sexy too with a pencil skirt fit with buttons along the side.

Plaid dress

Shop: Zara Check Dress with Pleats. Available at Power Plant Mall.

Get the full effect of the print by wearing a plaid dress. Tricia Gosingtian kept it simple by pairing it with black boots. This piece from Zara has a V neckline, pencil skirt, and pleated details along the front.
