Makeup trends are always popping up, and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of what’s going on. From Instagram makeup to more natural executions, it is also difficult to see which trends best fit your routine and approach to makeup. Yes, some can be intimidating, but there are others that are doable for women who want something easy. For example, the diffused lip. If you’re not familiar, this is a trend wherein you ditch the lip liner and throw caution to the wind. Gone are the days of trying to get your lipstick to look perfect. Now, what’s in is a more soft application, bordering on fuzzy if you look closely.
Yes, ladies, you too can pull off this look and we even have some tips to get you started.
Blending brush
Shop: Tom Ford Beauty Liquid Matte Lip Lacquer in Pussycat. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source. Sigma Beauty E25 Blending Brush. Available on Sephora PH.
One trick to achieving the diffused lip is by using a brush to apply the product. Pick up some liquid lipstick on the brush and softly blend it on your lips. Don’t create any harsh lines. Start from the center of your lips and work your way out.
Just blot
Shop: Max Factor Colour Elixir Marilyn Monroe Lipstick in Cabaret Red. Available on Zalora PH.
You can also choose to blot your lips. Skip the lip liner and just swipe your favorite tube of lipstick lightly. Once you’re all covered, grab a piece of tissue and blot away. Continue blotting until you’ve achieved your desired level of diffusion. This is a great trick if you’re on-the-go.
All in the fingers
Shop: CoverGirl Continuous Color Lipstick in Iceblue Pink. Available at SM Makati.
The quickest way to get diffused lips is by using your fingers. First, make sure your hands are squeaky clean. Warm up the product with your ring finger and start dabbing the color on your lips. With this process, your lipstick will have a very subtle and natural amount of color.
Tint and gloss
Shop: Happy Skin Kiss & Bloom Water Lip & Cheek Tint in Fearless. Available at Glorietta 4. Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss. Available at SM Megamall.
You can also use lip tints to get the perfect diffused lip. Just dab a very small amount in the center of your lips and start to spread it outward. The way I like to finish off this look is with some lip gloss. It gets rid of any streaky lines and adds the right amount of shine.
