Shopping hack: Check out clothes in the kids section

Shopping is definitely one of my favorite hobbies. As fun as it can be, we often encounter some hurdles. Maybe you’re trying to stick to a budget or you can’t exactly find what you’re looking for. If that has ever happened to you, I have a tip: shop in the kids section. Have you stepped in there lately? I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden clothes for boys and girls have gotten way cuter and even trendier. Also, let’s not forget the prices of kids clothes can be cheaper too.

Most brand’s kids section runs until age 14 but don’t be fooled by that. If you look around and actually fit some of the clothes, you’ll be surprised that some will fit you. And they look good too. So, if you’re looking for a little adventure in your shopping life, check out these pieces.

Zara Ponte Di Roma Knit Leggings

Quick hack for everyone out there, the leggings at the kids section of Zara are very stretchy so they can fit bigger sizes. Sure, they say it’s only up to age 14 but try it on to see if it’s a perfect fit for you. I’ve bought a few pairs in the past and wore them to death. This one has a design that even adults would wear. Notice the very on-trend exposed zipper closure. Available at Power Plant Mall.

Uniqlo Washed Pocket Crew Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt

If you love crop tops, here’s a top for you. When I walk around a store, I sometimes gravitate towards the kids T-shirts because of the colors and designs. Try on a few different sizes to find the one you are most comfortable with. These end up having a cropped/shrunken fit on adults. Perfect with high waisted trousers. Available at Glorietta 5.

Mango Fringes Knit Sweater

Same with the T-shirts, you can get more cropped sweaters from kids clothes. This one is made of knitted fabric and has decorative fringing. Oh, don’t forget that the sleeves are going to be a three-quarter length on you. Available at SM Megamall.

H&M Faux Fur Jacket

Faux fur jackets in the women’s section can be a little pricey. If you want one but don’t want to splurge just yet, cop this one first. It has a concealed hook-eye fastening and side pockets. Wear this to your next costume party or on a night one when you’re feeling a little extra. Available at SM Makati.

Cotton On Blaire Long Sleeve Dress

Yes, you can definitely wear a kids dress too, you just have to style it for you. Depending on how it fits on you, you can either wear it as a mini dress or a shirt tucked into some shorts. Let your creativity take over with these kinds of pieces. Available at Greenbelt 5.
