One of the first things I had to learn while prepping for the airport is to wear sandals because they’re easier to take off. If you’re an avid traveler, you’d know that Philippine airports require you to take off your shoes while going through the second inspection. Of course, if you want to go through the scanner quickly or simply don’t want to hold up the line, you have to opt for slip-ons.
If you’re like me and have too many sneakers (full disclosure: I wore Chuck Taylors once and it was a pain to re-lace them after the inspection), list down the picks below.
Onitsuka Tiger Appian Slip On Sneakers
Complete your casual outfit with slip-on sneakers. This one from Onitsuka Tiger comes in neutral and stained-style shades. They’re made with rubber soles, making them the ideal pair for walking around any city. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
Melissa Cosmic Sandal III
Sandals are comfortable and versatile and of course, you can quickly take them off when needed. The Cosmic sandal is a versatile choice that you can wear with jeans, shorts, and dresses. Though we don’t recommend this pair if your feet get cold easily. Available at Shangri-La Plaza.
Daily Schedule Patch Slide – Mocca Grid
Slides don’t always have to be plain ‘ol slippers. If you want to wear something that doesn’t cramp your style, Daily Schedule’s Patch Slides might catch your eye. They come in a grid pattern and a crowned patch on the strap. Available at San Antonio Plaza.
Dexflex by Dexter Women’s Casey Scrunch Flat
Let’s stop with open-toe shoes now. We’re all for ballet shoes that can be folded and placed in our bags, like this Dexflex pair. It has a flexible upper and outsole, making it easy for you to remove and pack in your handcarry bag. Especially if you want to switch from ballet flats to another footwear style when you get to your destination. Available at Payless stores.
CLN Aristotle Flat Mules
For a sophisticated option, you can always wear mules when you travel. Backless ones, in particular, are easy to step out of when you’re walking through inspection. Plus, you can wear this on work trips where you’re wearing a pantsuit as it looks corpo-chic and comfy. Of course, you can also change from mules to heels, too. Available at SM Mall of Asia.
Aldo Georgienne
The Georgienne has a collapsible back so you can go from wearing full loafers to slippers in a sec. It’s made from leather and lined with cotton to ensure that your feet are snug. Available at Uptown Mall.
