These lip primers do way more than just moisturize your lips

Whether you’re a makeup addict or not, there’s one category almost all women (and men) have: lipstick. You probably have at least three in your bag now just in case you feel like changing it up in the middle of the day. Stop! Before you swipe on that rich color, don’t forget to prime your lips. Some of you might think some lip balm is enough, but these primers are even better. Mainly because the formulas are enriched with ingredients that not only moisturize but can make the colors more vibrant and last longer. Some even promise to combat feathering and bleeding. If you don’t already have one, here are some you can add to your makeup bag.

MAC Prep + Prime Lip

The classic lip primer that many already have in their kit is MAC’s Prep + Prime. It’s color-free, adds moisture to the lips and refines them as well. The amount of moisture this gives is light enough that matte lipsticks will still dry down. Use this before you line and fill in your lips with your lipstick of the day. Available at SM Mall of Asia.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Eye & lip Equalize Primer

Save space on your vanity with a multi-purpose product. Get ready for a night out by priming your lids and lips. This will make sure that your makeup won’t budge. This is also colorless so it won’t affect whatever pigments you decide to use. Available at Shangri-La Plaza.

Colourette Uno Lip Primer

If you swear by Colourette’s lip products, pick up their primer as well. It’s hydrating and helps seal in the lipstick on top. It can also be used to enhance the color of other lip products. It is infused with beeswax, coconut oil, avocado oil, and jojoba oil. Available at Market! Market!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Primer

Do your lipsticks tend to feather after a few hours of wear? You can skip the lip liner and just swipe on the primer instead. This is also hydrating so you don’t have to worry about your matte lipsticks flaking and cracking from dryness. Available on Sephora PH.

Tom Ford Lip Locking Priming Balm

Enriched with vitamin E, this balm will keep your lips moisturized. It will also give your lipsticks a fresh base since it smoothens and refines lines. Apply this and pick your favorite Tom Ford lipstick to go along with it. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.

Cargo HD Picture Perfect Lip Primer

This one is different from other primers since it comes in a lip gloss-like packaging. Not only does it keeps lips moist but the formula allows product to stick to it because it’s an “adhesive-like base.” If you want fuller lips, this also has a plumping effect. Available at Beauty Bar branches.

Covergirl Outlast All-Day Topcoat

I know, this one is called a topcoat but you can use it as a base as well. Apply this before lipstick to lock in the color. Layer on top again to make it kiss-proof, food-proof, and transfer-resistant. Pretty much everything you would want in a lipstick. Available at SM Makati.
