How to achieve the “Side Sweep” according to Suyen Salazar

Personally, I am obsessed with hair. Ever since I started experimenting with different cuts and colors, I’ve been putting more effort into styling it as well. Just like clothes, the way your locks look can act as the main accessory or focal point of your entire look. On the lookout for fresh styles, hairstylist Suyen Salazar pointed out that a sleek side sweep is in. “So what people don’t realize is that when you have smooth, sleek, and straight hair, it’s nice but if you really want to make a dramatic impact on a new look, it’s nice to do a really deep parting,” shares Suyen. “That will give you a really cool editorial deep part and adding some pins make it instantly different.” She also noted that it’s back on the runways, “I’ve also seen super sleek ponytails [and] deep side parts. Gigi hadid just had a super sleek side part when she walked for Tom Ford.” However, she pointed out that it isn’t entirely new. “Already, it’s a hairstyle we’ve seen around for so long. And like fashion, hair also comes and goes and this is one of those hairstyles that’s always gonna stay.”

Don’t worry, Suyen assures that you can do this easily at home and shared some tips.

Use the right shampoo and conditioner for not just smooth, but runway standard smooth hair

“I would start out [by] washing your hair with TRESemmé’s keratin smooth shampoo, and then from the mid lengths to the ends, put the conditioner.”

Blowdry and start sectioning

“When you’re blowdrying, make sure all the moisture of your hair dries up and then section your hair on either side that you’re comfortable with.”

Find your angle

“Find the arch on your eyebrow, go a little past it towards your ear, maybe just two centimeters, and create your line there.”

The finishing touch

“And then I would just comb it down, spray it with the TRESemmé hairsporay and then slick it back with a cute little pin.”

Aside from the actual process of getting this chic hairstyle down, Suyen notes that you have to start with the products you use. “I always tell my clients, when it comes to styling hair, you always have to start with your shampoo and conditioner. You’re definitely going to have an easier way of achieving this if you just start using the TRESemmé keratin smooth shampoo and conditioner. It will prep your hair so you don’t have to do so much work when it comes to styling because your hair will already be super smooth as soon as you dry it.”

After getting some tips from a professional, I think I’m ready to try this look at home. How about you?
