These cakes are made for every SOGIE

Thinking of a creative way to come out?

Cakeshop by Sonja, in collaboration with the LoveYourself Foundation, launched its “My 2nd First Birthday” campaign this afternoon. They released “Coming-out cakes” in honor of National Coming Out Day today. Each cake is named according to different sexual orientations and identities: It’s O-gay cake, Lesbi honest cake, Bi the way cake, Transtastic cake, and Queerly beloved cake.

According to their press release, this campaign “aims to celebrate the second time a person recognizes his/her/their new gender identity in a bid to renew lives, push for acceptance, give pride and celebrate genuine love in society.”

LoveYourself is a foundation that aims to embrace everyone’s worth through supporting pride and self-love. “This campaign will further normalize conversations about people celebrating their unique identities to the point that they don’t need to have a ‘coming out’ moment anymore,” says Paul Junio, the Brand Management Head of the foundation. LoveYourself will also get a percentage from the proceeds of the cake.

The cakes are designed in a spectrum of colors that represent the genders. For the O-gay cake, it’s a chiffon layered cake that has the colors of the Pride flag. It is also filled with chocolate nibbles inside. The Lesbi honest cake represents the lesbian flag and slathered with marshmallow icing. The Bi the way cake is coated with chocolate and covered with thick buttercream, with colors blue and pink that represent bisexuality. The Transtastic cake represents the transgender pride flag, also covered with a thick buttercream. And lastly, the Queerly beloved cake has a purple filling and has the colors of the queer flag. These cakes are made to order.

Cakeshop by Sonja is known for creating custom design desserts for events. They have a unique eye for detail, design, and taste. It all started with Sonja’s dream of opening her own cupcake store, which she called Cupcakes by Sonja. It first opened in Serendra BGC in 2006.

Sonja Ocampo, the founder of the bakeshop, says that they try to be inclusive to make all customers feel welcome. “We want to encourage them to be themselves and to find the things that make them happy.”
