Kaia Gerber’s Givenchy gown has a rain-friendly veil

Imagine: You booked your outdoor wedding date in advance, but you realized that it might rain on your special day. What do you do? Well, Givenchy has a suggestion.

The French luxury brand presented its spring 2020 couture collection at Paris Fashion Week, which included pieces with oversized veils called “umbrella” hats. Creative director Claire Waight Keller tells Vogue that she got the idea from the sculptural milinery of the 1950s. She also took inspiration from the garden rooms at Vita Sackville-West’s Sissinghurst House, as well as pieces from Hubert de Givenchy’s archive.

Model Kaia Gerber wore a white lace bridal dress with an umbrella hat that could easily cover her whole body. It’s the perfect accessory for when you want to hide your emotions on your wedding day. Your bridesmaids can even wear a blue dress with a similar umbrella hat.

What do you think of this oversized veil? Would you rock it on your rainy wedding day?
