JSYK, Uniqlo is opening an online store soon

Heads up to all the fans of the Japanese minimalist fashion store: Uniqlo is opening an online store in the second half of 2020.

Working at a publication staffed with millennials, I’ve become accustomed to the Uniqlo uniform (The Cut’s Emilia Petrarca once shared that she wears their clothes to “cosplay as a rich person,” which I deeply empathize with). It’s not a look that I personally go for, but I understand why people love a brand whose array of basics allows you to access a certain cache of style. (That’s editorial speak for “I know my coworkers would kill me in exchange for two nicely pleated pants.”) With the store going online, you, too, can look like my coworkers without having to leave your home—please keep safe during this time, bbs.

Uniqlo hasn’t released a lot of information yet about the new service, aside from the fact that it’ll be rolling out soon. Currently, if you check out their website, you’ll only be able to see their catalog (complete with size guides and prices) but you won’t have any way to buy them. The same thing is true with their mobile app.

However, what I do know is that they posted this photo of a phone with a shopping cart on its screen, which implies that there will, at least, be a mobile version of the online store. Guess we’ll have to keep an eagle-eyed look out for new developments.
