From gauze ruffled tops to cropped jackets, score RTW dream pieces at Slim’s Studio

Being stuck indoors hasn’t stopped us from making sartorial purchases.

From tulle dresses to deconstructed deadstock pieces, some folk are treating themselves to garments they’ve been dreaming of. And the next place to scour for the newest addition to your closet? Slim’s Studio.

Slim’s Studio is an exclusive marketplace that features specially curated RTW capsule collections by Slim’s Fashion & Arts School alumni. Created to help students and alumni showcase their creations and connect with potential clientele, the studio has a lineup carefully screened by Slim’s director Mark Higgins.

Wondering whether it will also house collections from established alumni such as Albert Andrada, Joey Samson, Martin Bautista and Michael Cinco? It’s a possibility in the future. But for now, its focus is helping out up-and-coming designers. The recent batch of featured designers includes TernoCon 2020 gold medalist Hannah Adrias, Damaris Chua of TWYST, China Parado of Vestida China, Yvonne Tabanao, Noel Marin and Mario Santos.

While the designers are available for inquiries on customization and specifications, the pieces are mostly on a pre-order basis and are limited in quantity due to their use of locally sourced and handcrafted textiles. Here are some of our favorite featured pieces.

Adrias’ Isla Top, from her brand’s Aplin Collection, is an oversized double gauze ruffled top that will add whimsy to your wardrobe. It retails for P6,999.

TWYST’s Vici is a shirtdress with a deep V cutout at the back and a functional drawstring. Whether you prefer a tight or loose silhouette, the ₱5,450 piece is both modest and sexy.

Vestida China’s Meredith Top is a reversible top with drawstring details. Can be worn long or cropped, it’s a playful two-in-one piece that retails for ₱2,570.

Tabanao’s Fiamma is an oversized cocoon top with an equally oversized fringe pilgrim collar made from corduroy and soft houndstooth fabric. If Maria Clara were a diwata, she would have copped this. It retails for ₱4,990.

Marin’s Usagi Top is a spearpoint collared cotton shirt with flange details for a boxy fit. With its high-low hem and dropped shoulders, it’s a piece that can spice up a minimalist monochromatic style. It retails for ₱2,990.

Santos’ Elliott Cropped Jacket provides a fun pop of color that will make you feel like a fantasy children’s book character in the best way. The dolman jacket in cotton brushed twill with functional front cargo pocket detail and button closure retails for P5,999.
