Get Elizabeth Olsen’s Bold Lip on Her ‘L’Officiel’ Cover

If the September magazine covers are any indication, the beauty trends for the upcoming months are about focusing on just one part of the face. Gone are the days of complicated contouring and sculpting—even Kim Kardashian went barefaced for her Vogue Spain cover.

We chose our favorites out of the bunch, based on which magazine did best in accentuating one key part of the face, while tying with the vibe of the makeup artist and the feel of the concept. Wondering which one you can pull of your own?  Keep scrolling to find out.

Elizabeth Olsen for L’Officiel Paris

Elizabeth Olsen graces L’Officiel Paris with what Nylon calls a “full-on vamp look” in a long-sleeved black dress, long lashes, and deep, red lips. If you want to recreate the look, go for minimal eye makeup, skip the pink blush, and put on the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry (P525). This lipstick carries a smooth, creamy finish that is not drying (which is important, especially when wearing a statement lippie) and is highly-pigmented so you can get just the right amount of color with just one swipe.

Revlon. Available at selected Watson’s branches, Landmark –Trinoma, Landmark-Makati, and PCX, Greenbelt 3. For more information, visit their website.

Gisele Bündchen for Pop

Right on the money with the strobing trend, Gisele Bündchen is all about that healthy, dewy look for her Pop cover. Highlighting the cheekbones and the sides of her forehead, and showing off her freckles and spots, the supermodel seems to set the new standard for that “no makeup” makeup look. “Though it looks like she could be wearing mascara and highlighter, seeing Bundchen’s freckles and pores on a magazine cover is a breath of fresh air,” writes Carly Ledbetter of The Huffington Post of the cover. You can opt to follow this look with the Benefit Bigger Than BB Big Easy (P2,000) which is a liquid-to-powder BB formulation that evens out the color of your skin tone without completely covering the spots that give your face character.

Benefit. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 4 and Greenbelt 5. For more information, visit their website.

Emma Watson for Vogue UK

Emma Watson sits composed and unimposing on the cover of Vogue UK with a simple, girl-next-door look but she still merits our attention. The brows are the key feature as they fully frame her face well for that cover girl stare. The Gosh Eyebrow Kit (P599) is a set of  three powders (light, medium, and dark) that you can combine or use individually, and a wax cream so you change your look and fill in your eyebrows according to your preference. Plus, the drugstore find is Lisa Eldridge-approved!

Gosh. Available at SM Makati, Watson’s SM Mall of Asia, and SM Aura. For more information, visit their website.

Lady Gaga for CR Fashion Book

One of the double covers for this season’s CR Fashion Book features Lady Gaga with mascara running down her cheek, in a black muscle shirt that is just signature Mother Monster and has been the stuff of headlines. But the other cover, wherein she’s a demure bride surrounded by white fabric is Gaga, the Lady as Porter Magazine once called her. Her delicate aura is exuded by the subtle color on her cheeks. If you want a similar barely-there hint of color, the Nars Blush in Sex Appeal (P1,650) is a pale peach powder blush that can be applied subtly on the apples of your cheeks for that flushed look and can be built up to a more intense shade, especially if you want to wear this color at night.

Nars. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source and  G/F Central Square, Bonifacio Global City. For more information, visit their website.

Katy Perry for Harper’s Bazaar

Stepping back from the outrageous looks she donned at this year’s Superbowl halftime performance, Katy Perry goes for a gray-black smoky eye look that recalls classic, old-world charm. She veers away from being outdated by going for a metallic tone instead of matte or shimmery formulations, however. The Sleek Molten Metal Eyeshadow Cream in Steel and Ash (P699) is a creamy silver and gray eyeshadow with a sheen just enough to reflect the light and with an intensity that blends well with your chosen black eyeliner.

Sleek. Available at The Ramp, Glorietta 4 and The Ramp, Shangri-la Mall, Ortigas. For more information, visit their website.
