Local brands creating stylish summer looks for pregnant and nursing moms

Moms like Rihanna have taught us that maternity doesn’t have a strict dress code. You can wear anything, from a strappy Dundas minidress to a cute bralette, as long as you feel good and comfy. And the same rule applies to nursing clothes: They don’t have to come in unflattering silhouettes.

If you’re having a hard time shopping for you and your young one, here’s a list of local brands making cute clothes for stylish moms.

Studio Vania Romoff

A go-to for romantic and chic pieces, Studio Vania Romoff has launched its childrenswear line called Mini Vania Romoff so you and your kids can both look dainty on your days out. Try these Heidi dresses, a puff sleeve empire mini dress for mommy and a puff sleeve dress with ruffled peplum for baby.

Other RTW designs that breastfeeding moms might like are the self-tie puff sleeve Yara top and the shirred Sicily cropped set.

Anika

Anika Martirez’s eponymous tropical slow fashion line has also expanded with its childrenswear line called Little One by Anika. Most of its pieces are in linen, making them extra comfortable this season.

If you want matching outfits with your child, there are the Lilou dresses with reversible necklines from the ribbon details. You can also pair pieces with matching patterns like the loose-fitting Chloe swing dress with the two-tiered Little Paz dress.

Other cute breastfeeding-ready tops from the brand include the Concha tube, the racerback Roth top, and the Baco midi.

Elin

Joey Socco Dy’s Elin is a brand created specifically for pregnant and postpartum moms. Some of our faves from the brand were born out of its team-up with Solenn Heussaff for its Elin x Katana collections. Here’s the celebrity mom sporting the Fantasy co-ords’ thoughtful pleated linen top with hidden zippers.

We love how the brand showcases how nursing tops can be sexy. Our other picks are the Peek-a-Boob sweater, the loose-fitting Hope top, and the tiered Desire dress with double nursing access.

Tili Dahli

Heussaff is also part of baby wear brand Tili Dahli, which she founded with bestie and sister-in-law Anne Curtis. It offers pieces like those in the Color Block collection that are made in 100% organic cotton for babies with sensitive skin.

While they do focus on baby garments, there are also products for mom and dad if they want to go matchy with their kids. The Amihan collection includes the breastfeeding-ready Breeze and Wind dresses as well as the Air Shirt in adult and mini sizes.

Solana

Have you been looking for a cute, roomy jumpsuit? Bea, Andie, and Marti Limpo’s Solana creates ultra-comfy pieces and one of them fits the bill. The  Brisa gartered tube jumpsuit even has adjustable straps.

You might also want to check out other adjustable options like the halter Dia top with a wooden button detail or the Pico top with its semi-open back detail

Cariño

What we love about Gianne Vasquez and Shayne Ting’s Cariño is how it uses upcycled fabrics in creating pieces that can still be sexy. Take the versatile Adriana Linen Wrap top, for example. You can go less or more revealing, also depending on your nursing convenience.

Other daring style options are using the Issa Barte x Cariño scarves (with part of its proceeds dedicated to youth organization For the Future) and the Mariana Tube Skirt as tops.
