There is a Givenchy campaign with a 27-model cast right now meant to spread positivity.
Just when you started layering your clothes for the forthcoming chilly nights ahead, know that spring/summer 2016 campaigns will start to drop one by one. First up is Givenchy, spearheaded by creative director Riccardo Tisci, with a series of New York City-inspired photos
The campaign’s set of models includes long-time Tisci muses Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, Candice Swanepoel, and Miranda Kerr posing with suited-up men, while dressed in black and white, eyes piercing the camera. The photos are moody but at the same time threatening, mainly coming from the fixated gaze of the models.
But the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott-shot photos don’t intend to scare; in fact they’re supposed to spread the good vibes. “I’m a big believer in positive energy, and I’m sure this energy will spread,” the designer explains. He sees every one who is part of his team as family and fashion as an outlet for his emotions. According to WWD, the campaign “dovetails with his conviction that messages of love are infectious and impactful.” This he does in a high-fashion kind of way.
Also clad in the latest sleek spring/summer looks are the new faces of the Givenchy “family.” Wearing fresh, white looks are models Lexi Boling, Leila Goldkuhl, Kris Gottschalk, and Imaan Hammam, among others.
Riccardo is feeling a little sentimental and probably it’s because Christmas time. “Everyone can do something very small, some gesture of love. I’m not saying this will change the world, but the world will be better.”
Oh Riccardo, if we can only look as chic as your muses in Givenchy, what a bright world this would be!
