Weeks after Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s historic and non-traditional win at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, Filipino and Colombian netizens are still fighting like cats and dogs over it on social media.
In an attempt to simmer down the heat, Pia posted a comment on her Instagram, telling her fans, “Mga kababayan wag na po tayong mag-comment ng masama tungkol sa ibang lahi. At wag na po tayo pumatol sa mga bashers. Nanalo na po tayo, sapat na po yun (Please don’t make bad comments about foreigners, and don’t mind the bashers. We already won. That should be enough).”
The Colombians obviously haven’t forgiven Steve Harvey and the Miss Universe Organization for the mix-up, and also doesn’t seem to like the newly-crowned queen that much. Naturally, our fellowmen were quick to defend Pia one nasty, racist comment at a time.
Seriously, people need to stop fighting and move on. As every Miss Universe contestant once said, “World peace!”
