Brace Yourself: An Alexander McQueen Biopic Is in the Works

Few people have had such an enduring impact in the fashion industry like Alexander McQueen did. Thus, a biopic following the life, career, and tragic suicide of the designer is much expected and now is soon to become a reality.

The project will be directed by Andrew Haigh, who was nominated for the British Independent Award for Best Director in 2015 for his movie 45 YearsThe screenplay will be written by Chris Urch, a young writer who has received praise for his plays like Land of Our Fathers and The Rolling Stone.

No other details have been released about the film. So expect a frenzy of speculation surrounding who will be chosen to play the enfant terrible, how the movie will tackle his creative partnerships with editor Isabella Blow and stylist Katy England, and also how they will depict the designer’s last few days leading to his suicide. Add to that how the director might work in the painstaking behind-the-scenes for every collection and show for his eponymous line, as well as his tenure as creative director of Givenchy.

As of now, the only tributes dedicated to Alexander’s life is the TV movie McQueen & I and a handful of books which document his life and work such as Blood Beneath the Skin and McQueen: Genuis of a Generation.
