We may have heard or saw it on the Internet somewhere that most fast food in restaurants like McDonald’s are made with a peculiar pink substance that is reportedly dangerous to your health. While this was already debunked by the restaurant, a recent study found that we’re still not safe from unhealthy substances.
According to a study cited by Bloomberg, it was found that an industrial chemical called phthalates, which is used to make plastic and vinyl, is apparently common in fast food items. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control also found that “phthalate exposure is widespread in the US population.”
While the health consequences of being exposed to this chemical is still being looked into, previous research found that one effect may be male infertility. Scientists are also studying its effect on pregnant women and children.
But hey, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right? So I’m guessing we won’t be having fast food for lunch.
