Major Fast-Fashion Brand Lifts Designs from Emily Oberg

Complex editor and owner of Sporty & Rich Emily Oberg put one retail brand in the spotlight for stealing her design. It’s not Zara this time, but Forever 21.

Forever 21 recently released white hoodies with the text “Smart & Pretty” on the hoodies’ left breast and guess what? It looks exactly like Emily’s design for her personal brand Sporty & Rich, and the only thing that’s different was the text. Mind you, still using the same font. She quickly posted this on Instagram with the caption “When @Forever21 copies you [heart emoji].”

“I intend to go after Forever 21 and get what is owed to me, even if it’s just for the retailer to take down the item and stop selling it in its stores. Small guys like us gotta eat, too.”

Complex asked Emily to write about her side where she shares that these companies do not realize how stealing of ideas affect smaller businesses. You put in sweat and blood to build a brand that’s truly yours only to have brands like Forever 21 steal and mass-produce it. Unfair, huh?

This is certainly giving us major flashbacks from Tuesday Bassen’s incident with Zara.
