Zara Launches Its First Sustainable Clothing Line

#JoinLife is Zara’s latest collection that features sustainable and ethical clothing made of organic cotton and recycled wool.

Featuring basics like dresses, jackets, and jumpsuits in rich, solid colors, the collection will be easy to incorporate in your wardorbe for office and casual wear. The collection “embraces a woman who looks into a more sustainable future.”

The collection goes hand in hand with Zara’s other eco-friendly intitatives which include using only boxes made from 100 percent recycled cardboard and a recycling clothes program (similar to H&M’s project) in certain parts of the United States and Spain.

Be wary though, as Allure points out, all this just might be a form of greenwashing especially since the brand’s whole ethos is dependent on throwing out and getting clothes every season. Refinery29 echoes the same sentiment as they say that one sustainable clothing collection isn’t enough to make a sustainable business.

But that doesn’t mean you should snob the effort all together. Something like this from an international fast-fashion line helps (and when it comes to saving our environment, every bit of help is needed) and may just be a catalyst for more big brands to follow suit.
