JW Anderson to Collab with Japanese Clothing Favorite

JW Anderson, current creative director of Loewe and his own namesake designer brand, is the latest designer that Japanese retail clothing brand Uniqlo will be partnering up with.

According to Refinery29, the British designer will create a capsule collection under Uniqlo’s LifeWear line for fall ’17. In a press release, Uniqlo looks forward to how Jonathan will bring the influence of his motherland to their clothing. Uniqlo shares, “The British Isles constitute a treasure house of such apparel, with duffle coats and fisherman’s sweaters being just two examples. In partnering with J.W. Anderson, one of Britain’s most innovative and creative brands, we will tap into traditions while pursuing progress in designs and fabrics, to craft styles that are enduringly appealing.”

Jonathan, on the other hand, looks at how the collaboration will help him reach a bigger audience. “Working with Uniqlo is probably the most incredible template of democracy in fashion, and it’s nice that my design can be accessible to anyone, on all different levels,” he said in a release to Business of Fashion.

This is Jonathan’s second highstreet collaboration in his career. The first one being with Topshop. For Uniqlo, this collaboration is part of  a stream of big-named partnerships with Carine Roitfield, Jil Sander, and Inès de la Fressange.
