Karlie Kloss, Vera Wang, and Janelle Monae Stole the Show at the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards

Every year, the CFDA Fashion Awards gives recognition to the best in the industry. Previous honorees include Donna Karan, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, and David Bowie, among many others. As usual, there’s also the show-stopping red carpet looks of celebrities like Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, and the Olsen Twins.

While many of us already know this year’s honorees like Rick Owens, Pat McGrath, and the late Franca Sozzani, we also want to do our own version. Take this as a quick shout-out to the evening’s fashionable bunch. This is also a way to see what else happened behind the scenes.

Board of Directors Tribute recipient Janelle Monae showed up in a black and white Christian Siriano number. The sleek design reminded us of a modern-day spy outfit, especially with her round Karen Walker shades which added a touch of mystery.

Best in workwear chic: Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss’ two-piece Diane von Furstenberg ensemble is our new corporate inspo for the week. But in an edgy, girl boss way.

Most creative Instagram photo booth video: Coco Rocha and Cynthia Rowley

Supermodel Coco Rocha made a statement with her new raven-black mohawk and Cynthia Rowley outfit. Both had a fun moment at the CFDA’s interactive Instagram booth. This is how you make the most of a 10 to 15-second video.

Best long bob: Bella Hadid

Aside from her hot pink trenchcoat dress, Bella Hadid’s new hairstyle also stole the spotlight. The long bob framed her face shape well, and even highlighted her contoured cheekbones effortlessly.

Best slit: Vera Wang

Angelina Jolie’s left leg may have some competition. Vera Wang’s black slit skirt showed serious skin without looking too provocative.

Vetements’ creative director Demna Gvasalia gave his own twist on streetwear with a black blazer paired with a dad cap and rubber shoes.

Model and designer Alek Wek didn’t shy away from color with her pastel green boots. It’s an unusual choice for her black Balenciaga dress, but it’s a unique one nonetheless.

Best in matchy-matchy: HAIM

We’re giving the Olsen twins a break this year. The HAIM sisters arrived in matching glittery Diane von Furstenberg dresses that complemented their tall frames.

Most dramatic train: Di Mondo

Di Mondo, also known as the “most-photographed man in New York,” gave everyone a run for their money with his furry pink train. Pantsuits with dramatic trains might just become a thing after this.
