Pick Up these Makeup Items If You Still Want Kylie Jenner’s Birthday Collection

It’s that day again. The day after a big Kylie Cosmetics launch. The makeup and social media mogul released her birthday collection yesterday and we are once again struggling with our bank accounts whether or not to get a piece or two…when really we want the whole $325 bundle. But then again, most of the pieces are already sold out.

My officemate and I have gone back and forth on what we would get if shipping internationally and taxes weren’t such a burden. But it’s one thing to want something and another to find if they suit you. My rule is always to cop the dupe: If you like it, you’ll be satisfied and you get so save some moolah. If you don’t, at least you didn’t risk a bigger price for something that doesn’t make you happy. (That sounded more dramatic than it should.)

Here are a few dupes of the key pieces in the collection. Try them out and stop debating if you want a Kylie one. It’s just a never-ending torture.

You want: Twenty Lip Kit

Get: MAC Lipstick in Whirl

Twenty is the only lip kit that is included in the birthday collection. Described as a mid-tone rosy brown, it seems like a color that would suit a number of different skin tones. If you want the same effect, go for the classic MAC in Whirl. Glamour and even my editor vouch for its rosy brown shade that is fit for day and night and from fair to dark skin tones. There’s a matching lip liner too! Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Shangri-La Mall.

You want: King Ultra Glow

Get: Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Highlighter Powder

Gotta hand it to Kylie for jumping on the loose powder highlight trend. Though compacts are the preferred option, there’s something about loose powder ones that seem to pack a stronger punch. If you want an intense highlight, try these ones from Alima Pure. They come in three shades, from Luna which registers a bit of gold to Whisper which has a pink undertone, you can play with these powders not just on your cheeks but also shoulders and decolletage. Available via SephoraPH.

You want: I Want It All Palette

Get: TooFaced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette

The I Want It All palette carries a pink-brown color story with matte and shimmer finishes inside. A close one for this would be Too Faced Bon Bons Palette with a range of pink, mauve, and brown shades. You can do a neutral look with it for the day time and then amp it up for a nigh event with the shades of pink. Available via SephoraPH.

You want: Cherry Pie Gloss

Get: Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Vinyl Lip Color in Ripe

The Cherry Pie Gloss from Kylie Cosmetics is tagged as a bright, pigmented pomegranate. If you want the same opaque and fiery effect, this one from Estée Lauder might just be the one you’re looking for. It promises a lacquered, vinyl effect which is great if you want that juicy effect on the lips. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 3.

You want: Kylie Brush Set

Get: Suesh Holiday 15-Piece Makeup Brush Set

One reason why this birthday collection proved to be irresistible was due to the fact it was all in millennial pink. How cute were the white and pink brushes she threw into the set for eyes and face? If you really want that set, why not get a big bargain and opt for this 15-piece one by Suesh? Another plus for this kit aside from it being massive is that they’re vegan. Available via Beauty MNL.
