Is there something about the new cover of British Vogue that’s got your attention? From the styling, layout design, and yes, the cover girl? These are the works of the new editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.
Model and British Vogue’s contributing editor Adwoa Aboah was photographed by Steven Meisel, which apparently is his first cover and editorial for the British title in 25 years, and was styled by the Edward himself.
“Being on this cover is the biggest thing that’s happened in my career,” she said. “I never would have dreamt in a million years that I would have young girls coming up to me at Glastonbury or on the streets of LA, New York, London, and telling me how much Gurls Talk or seeing my picture in a magazine means to them, as a woman of color.”
I also couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I look at the cover, it reminds me of old-school Vogue covers that we used to look for and hoard—it gives you that exciting feeling of buying the magazine and running your fingers through the pages as you read them. With his passion to highlight talent and diversity, Edward is surely a trailblazer and he emphasized the fact that print is so not dead.
