The Non-Matte Lipsticks that Last All Day

As matte lipsticks take a backseat to give way to metallic and glossy formulas, it’s clear that people want non-drying lip products. However, the search for long-wearing lipsticks still continues.

You know the struggle of finding a satin finish that doesn’t disappear midday. Seeing majority of your lipstick on your coffee cup’s lid is enough to make you groan. But fret not, there are products out there that will lessen your touch-ups and won’t feel like gravel on your lips. Try out our suggestions below.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte-Gloss

Before I tested this out, I asked whether this is more of a matte lipstick or a gloss. Turns out, it has a velvety finish that’s not too tacky. It gives your lips opaque coverage and a smooth-looking surface with each swipe. It can transfer a few minutes after applying, but the color will surely stay all day. Available at Landmark Makati.

Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes

These lipsticks are made with Maybelline’s powder matte formula, which is a comfortable matte that doesn’t feel heavy on the lips at all. You can choose from various nude shades—from pink to brown tones—that matches your skin color. (My personal favorite is Walnut.) So if you’re someone who can’t let go of mattes but want something more hydrating, opt for the Inti-Mattes. Available at Watson’s.

NYX Simply Vamp Lip Cream

For nights out, it’s best to put on a dark lip that’ll last even after you’ve had a couple drinks. The Simply Vamp Lip Cream easily glides on the lips and will give you a vivid color for hours. Quick disclaimer tho that it will transfer a bit, but it won’t look patchy on the lips. Available at Uptown Mall.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick

The Pure Color Love Lipstick in Bar Red is a great bright red shade that you can wear on a regular basis. This is said to be “Ultra Matte,” but the formula feels more velvety which is better, IMO. The color stays on for a long time, and it fades seamlessly and doesn’t look patchy. Available at Rustan’s the Beauty Source.

Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick

Despite being a low-key brand, I enjoy using Golden Rose’s Velvet Matte Lipstick. It’s not too drying or shiny, and it gives you pigmented color that doesn’t transfer easily. When it fades after wearing it a long time, it still leaves an appealing tint on your lips. Available online.

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lipstick

Just like their matte formula, Dior’s satin liquid lipsticks promise intense color and long wear. Jeffree Star tested out one satin shade and showed that it doesn’t dry down and transferred when he did a kiss test. But you’ll clearly see that the color still looked opaque. Available at SM Makati.
