Still at a loss for what to eat for lunch in the office? Sick of having the same bowl of yogurt and granola every day for breakfast? We hear you. In Preen Food Diaries, we take a closer look at the eating habits that keep people fit, healthy, and satisfied, while taking note of the treats they indulge in.
Whenever I see athletes, I always wonder what they do behind the scenes to maintain their toned bodies and to keep their energy up. After all, many sports can take a long time to finish. We’re sure tennis player Christine “Tin” Patrimonio can attest to this.
Tin has played tennis since her NU Lady Bulldogs days. She was named MVP during the UAAP 78 women’s lawn tennis singles match. When she’s not competing, she also does modeling and acting projects, even played Gabriela Silang in the 2013 indie biopic Gabriela. Right now, she’s a Jeunesse Anion ambassador along with her sister and co-tennis player Clarice.
With all her commitments on top of being an athlete, we asked Tin about her daily diet to have an idea of what energizes her. Scroll down below to read more.
Breakfast
Before heading out to the gym, go run for 30 to 40 minutes or play tennis, I usually start my day by having my USANA Chocolate Nutrimeal, USANA vitamins and some fruits. Sometimes I even make my Nutrimeal as a shake and add fruits like banana or strawberries so I can also drink it on the go.
After the workout
I usually get hungry after my morning workouts, so I grab something light to eat like sandwich wraps or fruits to keep me full until lunch.
Lunch
For lunch, pasta! It is my favorite recovery meal. It provides the essential carbohydrates I need, and carbohydrates serve as a primary source of fuel for my body since I sometimes work out two times a day. This is the perfect meal for me.
Afternoon snack
I’m a girl. And girls get hungry easily! So when I do, after my second workout of the day, I usually have veggies, fruits or even granola bars—something light and healthy to deal with my hunger.
Dinner
For dinner, I need to have my protein and veggies combination. Definitely something healthy and filling.
Cheat meal
Cheat meal is definitely one of the best things that’s ever happened in this world! I have it once a week…sometimes twice. And when I do, I choose to have my favorite dessert, the frozen yogurt from Llaollao! It’s topped with strawberries, kiwi and cookie butter dip! Yum!
