Watching beauty videos on YouTube has been an everyday thing for me. It’s relaxing to just sit down and do your makeup while the video plays in the background. But recently I noticed that I’ve been subscribing to a lot of vloggers of color because I could relate to them more.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m also subscribed to light-skinned beauty vloggers. But as a morena, I won’t benefit from most of the products they use. Vloggers of color will feature products that will work for those who are darker which will help ladies (sometimes even men!) with the same complexion.
If you’re looking for new channels to subscribe to, here are the women and men of color you should check out.
Jackie Aina
One of the first videos I watched from Jackie Aina was her Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle swatches. Her reviews have a lot of humor, and sometimes she’ll even change wigs and outfits throughout the video. There are also times when she’ll bust into a rap when she’s too #shookt about how good a product is.
PatrickStarrr
Before the MAC collaboration, PatrickStarrr is best known for his makeup transformations and doing celebrities’ makeup. I personally love his videos because he’s a Filipino vlogger and his products highlight his moreno skin.
Ellarie
When you watch Ellarie’s videos, your attention will always go to her lips because they look perfect for swatches. So it’s no surprise that she collaborated with Colourpop for a line of lip products which includes a burgundy shade that goes well with every skin tone.
Bretman Rock
Bretman Rock is a bundle of energy whenever he posts a video. Apart from his makeup tutorials, he sometimes lets his sister and niece join him in videos. It’s also interesting to see how he went from a high schooler who’s starting out in makeup to an absolute pro in just a couple of years. Plus, he now has a highlighter palette with Morphe Brushes.
Ana Victorino
Ana Victorino is known for her five-minute makeup tutorials. She doesn’t just post simple looks, she also copies the looks of famous celebrities. When we interviewed her before, she revealed that she can indeed do her makeup within five minutes. Now that’s skill!
Nikita Dragun
Nikita Dragun doesn’t post videos as often now. But when she does, she makes sure that it makes an impression like creating heart-shaped freckles and transforming herself into a K-pop star. She also occasionally does “TRANSformation Tuesdays” where she shows her journey to becoming a woman.
