Andrea Torres takes care of her body not because she needs your validation

Actress Andrea Torres can be considered one of the sexiest stars of our time, having made headlines for her stint as a calendar girl for a sports drink, and in the past. One frequent question in people’s minds is, how did she achieve that look? The answer is, she worked hard for it—but looks aren’t actually what she aimed for. Cliché as it may sound, looking good isn’t as important to this actress as feeling good. So while the rest of the world would describe her body as “sexy,” she’d actually much rather prefer the adjective “strong.”

Ako kasi, I look at it as an investment eh, when you work out. For me, it’s not about I want to have abs, or I want to look like this; it’s more of I want to be strong, like even when I’m 50 or 60.” Yes, contrary to what most would like to believe, she’s not doing this to look good for anybody, but to feel good about herself. It’s understandable, too. Given her hectic schedule, we bet she really needs the strength and endurance to keep up with the daily stress of show business. Currently, she’s starring as the Norse goddess Sif in GMA’s Victor Magtanggol, which requires her to do plenty of action scenes. For this, she mercilessly trains. “I always go to the gym kahit na I have taping. Minsan 3 a.m., I go to the gym,” she shares. It’s hard not to admire her discipline. This, after all, was a girl who’s known for not letting injury be an excuse to her workout routine.

While it gets pretty much routine, she shares how she overcomes this. “I try to mix it up. Andun lagi yung cardio, weightlifting. I try to incorporate boxing, Muay Thai, pilates, para lang I don’t get bored, diba?”

Last we saw her was at Bench Fashion Week, as one of the stars who proudly represent the brand’s Activewear collection. Curious, we asked if she did some preparations for the show, which required her to show off her toned figure. Her answer was testament to her workout beliefs. She revealed she didn’t change anything to her routine to look “especially sexy” for the runway. “I’ve always been active naman,” she said. Though, she did admit to laying off on this one weakness prior the show: “Siguro more on the food intake. Kasi madalas ako mag-cheat eh. Parang this time, for two weeks, medyo no cheat days muna.” (My preparations were more on my food intake, because I usually have cheat days. But this time, for two weeks, I refrained from having cheat days)

Well, we were there as she walked down the runway, and we can say that her usual workout, coupled with that extra effort to discipline herself, worked a hundred percent. She looked sexy—and strong, and happy.
