Yes, another man in power is being accused of sexual harassment. BBC News reports that founder of fashion brand Ted Baker, Ray Kelvin, allegedly forced employees to hug him. There was also a petition launched by an employee who said, “It is part of a culture that leaves harassment unchallenged.”
It was also reported that aside from the hugging, “the brand’s founder asked young female members of staff to sit on his knee, cuddle him, or let him massage their ears.” Diet Prada also shared a testimony posted on IG Stories. It said, “During my time at Ted Baker I saw the CEO Ray Kelvin harass female colleagues with unwanted hugs, shoulder massages, and neck kisses.” To make things worse, when this person approached their manager about it, they said, “Don’t worry if he kisses you on the neck next time, he does it with everyone. It’s just the way he is.”
Although complaints have been brushed off in the past, the brand promises “a thorough independent investigation is carried out.” We hope this is true but did it really have to reach this far for the company to actually do something about it instead of protecting their boss? Thank goodness for the people who came forward and hopefully justice is served for all of them.
