The benefits of having your clothes custom-made

I used to think that having clothes custom-made was so extra. Unless it was for a formal event, I didn’t see the point. But, I was wrong and I have been converted. In the past two months, I have had two outfits made for different occasions. After going through the whole process, this is the only kind of shopping I want to partake in for the rest of my life. Maybe not ideal for me right now, but I will make it happen one day. If you’re curious about the different benefits of this and what I went through with my two outfits, keep reading. P.S. I will definitely be doing this again in the future.

Event-appropriate

As mentioned earlier, I recently had two outfits custom-made. One was for a wedding and the other a music festival. The former was actually a gift but it counts. Since I had two events in mind, I knew what kind of looks I wanted. For the first, I went for a top and trousers combo with an additional sheer piece. For the music festival, I also went for two pieces but a crop top and shorts.

Having the best fit

Since these pieces aren’t bought off of the rack, they will come out with the best fit for your body. I’m sure you all have struggled in the fitting room trying on pair after pair of pants and stacks of tops hoping to find the perfect one. It’s very rare, however, that we actually put on something and find that it ticks all the boxes. For clothes that you want the exact fit you want, for pants or a jacket for example, have it made specifically for you.

Picking the material

Picking the material is probably one of my favorite parts. Honestly, if you’re indecisive like I am it can be difficult but still enjoyable. When speaking to the designer ask for fabrics that fit your needs. For example, I wanted something that was light and breathable. Once that’s done, all you have to do is pick a color print. Yeah, definitely easier said than done.

Original design

The number one perk of having something custom-made, of course, is that you’ll have an original outfit designed just for you. It’s basically one of a kind.

Feeling special

From the one of a kind pieces you’ll have to the whole process of getting them made, you are going to feel so special. The process can take a while so going in for fittings and talking to designers about adjustments only makes the waiting much more worth it. It isn’t instant satisfaction but seeing each step will have you feeling even more excited.

Support

Instead of giving your money to fast fashion brands, you’ll be supporting designers themselves. In this case, they could even be local ones. You can show them some extra love by telling people about them too.
