Who is Eric Pfrunder, Chanel’s second artistic director?

Virgine Viard isn’t the only one who will be heading Chanel post-Karl Lagerfeld. The brand has also appointed former image director Eric Pfrunder as artistic director.

According to a press release, Virginie will be artistic director of fashion collection and Eric will be artistic director of fashion image, meaning he’ll oversee advertising and marketing for Chanel.

Like Virginie, Eric has worked alongside Karl since he started working at Chanel in 1983. As WWD detailed, Eric was the person who motivated him to pick up a camera and become a photographer. Chanel co-owner Alain Wertheimer said in a statement that he “confirms his confidence in the team that worked with Karl Lagerfeld for over 30 years.”

That said, how will these artistic directors change up the brand after three decades under the leadership of Karl Lagerfeld? Let us know your thoughts!
