2019 is the year we go back to babydoll 60s. Why? Well, let’s all point our fingers to the culprit: Prada.
Late last year, Prada went against the grain in the Summer/Spring 2019 fashion show—with their statement pieces: headbands. Big, bright, bold, printed, and studded pristine satin-silk headbands that looked glorious on the runway.
Headbands aren’t exactly knew, they’ve been with us for centuries. But if we’re about vital periods of history concerning these fashion pieces, the 60s is our best bet with our fashion queens Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Catherine Deneuve.
Then there was the 90s, where headbands became a pop culture trend. We saw Clueless star Cher Horowitz (played by Alicia Silverstone), and her royal highness herself Princess Diana, sporting these fabulous head pieces.
The 2000s was definitely a Gossip Girl era, and Blair Waldorf took over the trend with her stylish statement head accessories. From bows, to sparkly tiaras, to studded head wears, Queen B took headbands to a whole new level.
Now with Prada launching their regal oversized headbands, the trend is back again. Famous stars like Zendaya, Alexa Chung, local star Lovi Poe and influencer Camilla Co have been seen rocking the headband scene and we are here to follow!
