It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month once again.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.1 million women worldwide are afflicted by this disease. In 2018, it was estimated that 627,000 women died, approximately 15 percent of all cancer-related deaths among women. Likewise, the Department of Health (DOH) noted that breast cancer is the most common cancer among Filipinos.
This cancer doesn’t just affect women, but also men. Recently, Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé’s dad, opened up about his breast cancer diagnosis to raise awareness. Although male breast cancer makes up less than one percent of all cases, it still happens due to old age, family history of breast cancer, liver disease, and other risk factors.
Throughout the month, we’re going to give breast care tips, including how to self-check. For now, we’re listing down where you can get fashion and beauty products that’ll benefit breast cancer foundations and healthcare institutions.
If you want to help, check out our list below. (Keep checking back, we might add more brands and stores!)
