They say June is wedding season, but more people are choosing December to celebrate their special day.
When Albert Andrada presented a Christmas lantern-inspired bridal collection at Bench Fashion Week last August, he told us there are couples who choose December dates, “especially after Dec. 21, believe or not.” Plotting down an off-season wedding date can be more practical because it saves you money and you can easily find a venue. (Of course, planning things in advance is still important.)
Also December is a colder month and some couples just don’t want to hold ceremonies in the middle of summer. However, the most recent stats from the Philippine Statistical Authority (PSA) show that most Filipinos got married in May 2017 with 11.6 percent (50,305); December came in second place with 11.5 percent. We’ve yet to see the numbers for 2018, but it’s still safe to say that an almost-Christmas wedding is popular in our country.
