Not your regular pamaypay: Fan-shaped bags will be big in 2020

What’s going to be the It-bag of 2020?

Harper’s Bazaar listed down a bunch of style predictions last Dec. 13. A lot of them are great, but the trend that got our attention were fan-shaped bags. This accessory first made waves during New York Fashion Week spring 2020 when brands like Staud and Bevza included fan-shaped bags in their collections.

Fan-shaped bags also resonate with us because it reminds us of the pamaypay we use and several Filipino brands have come out with their own take on the style. If you’re into this trend, here are some bags you can cop in 2020.

Island Girl Raine Fan-Shaped Clutch

This abaca clutch from Island Girl can be paired with formal and more casual outfits. You can also choose from three colors: natural, blue, and orange. Available at Kultura, SM Makati.

The Lulu Tote is perfect if you love oversized tote bags. It’s made of abaca and raffia, and topped off with raffia flower appliqués attached on the straps. Go switch your everyday office bag with this tote bag, stat! Available at Power Plant Mall.

La Chula Empanada

Aside from its yummy name, the La Chula Empanada caught our eye because of its pleasing black, gold, and cream color combination. You can also get one in other hues like blues and rainbow. The Empanada is certainly a fun addition to any outfit. Available on Ava.
