Cream skin is here to overthrow the glass skin trend

For years, followers of Korean skincare routines all wanted glass skin, aka having “clear, luminous, seemingly transparent skin.” Why do you think they were so dedicated to doing a 10-step skincare routine every night?

But not everyone has time to follow such tedious routines daily, which is why people are now following a low-maintenance “cream skin” routine.

What is cream skin anyway? Soko Glam co-founder Charlotte Cho told Stylecaster that it’s opting for just one product—usually a hybrid between a moisturizer and a toner—with a milkier and lightweight consistency. This is said to give you soft and dewy skin that’s not as blinding as glass skin.

That said, here are some products to jumpstart your cream skin routine.

Laneige Cream Skin Refiner

Refinery29 refers to this as the product that started the cream skin trend. Laneige’s Cream Skin Refiner is described as a creamy toner that moisturizes skin with the help of white tea leaf water extract. Available on Althea.

Avène Hydrance Hydrating Emulsion

This Avène moisturizer is known for absorbing excess oil, leaving a shine-free surface after each use. Formulated with Avène Thermal Spring Water, it also promises long-lasting hydration and can soothe and soften the skin. Available at select Watsons stores.

Hanskin Avocado Cream Skin

Avocados are rich in vitamin E which softens skin and gives it a natural glow. You can get these benefits with Hanskin’s cream toner. It has a milky texture that instantly melts into the skin to keep it hydrated and soothe any redness. Available on Soko Glam.

Innisfree Bija Trouble Lotion

The Bija Trouble Lotion is formulated with Jeju bija seed oil which is known for improving acne-prone skin. The lotion also doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin, so you don’t have to worry about oiliness throughout the day. Available at SM Mall of Asia.

Cosrx Light Fit Real Water Toner to Cream

This product can work as a toner for those with normal and dry skin, as well as a moisturizer for combination and oily skin. It’s enriched with vitamins B3, C, and E to nourish skin, and also sea water to alleviate any irritation. Available on Kbeauty Cafe.
