If you’re a fan of photographer Gray Malin’s work, there’s a good chance you’ll be interested in wearing his art on your feet with the release of his collaboration with Sperry yesterday.
Gray is known for his breathtaking aerial shots of scenic landscapes: a beachside in Bondi, the peak of Aspen mountain, the penguins of Antarctica.
On one of his shoots, he randomly decided to take a “shoefie:” “During my aerial photo shoots I started snapping pictures of my Sperry’s dangling from the side of the helicopter and it inspired me to reach out and see if we could collaborate to bring my images onto the shoes. We are both brands who celebrate a mutual love for the sea and stand for classic style and adventure,” he tells Forbes.
The collection features three of his famous beach photographs shot in Lisbon, Portugal; Cefalù, Sicily, and Cape Town South Africa on three of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes for men and women.
It looks like the artist is bent on printing his best work on everyday items. His prints have already appeared on merchandise, like iPhone cases, dog collars, chocolate, and soon, beach towels.
The shoes are available only at Sperry Top-Sider in Bonifacio High Street and SM Aura, along with EASY Skate-Surf shop. They retail for P3,295 to P3,495.
His prints, which are available on his online store, start at $199.
