Wonderfruit Director Katrina Razon, also known to weekend club scene as DJ Katsu, disclosed in a recent Facebook post that she had been harassed by a persistent single cyberstalker over a period of five years, and that an amateur investigation instigated by her and aided by the PNP Cybercrime Division revealed this alleged stalker to be one Alek Trebol Picardal who had carried out similar travesties against at least 40 other people as of the time of this writing.
Razon says that this individual created multiple accounts to send multiple death threats to her, revealing knowledge of personal information such as her background and home addresses, and instructing her to die by suicide. Multiple screenshots in her post show samples of messages Picardal had allegedly sent, and included images of his profile page, which as of now is currently unpopulated but still up.
From her post: “He managed to find my US phone number, where he continued his harassment. He sent me death threats and the address of my house in LA. I could not walk down the street without looking over my shoulder, fearing that my anonymous assailant was trailing me from behind.”
Alek Picardal was a stranger to Razon and all 40 other victims before his identity was uncovered, but further investigation revealed that he had been a perpetrator of multiple harassment cases in his community in Bacolod, as disclosed by his classmates and acquaintances. Stories shared by acquaintances of the suspect reveal that Picardal has been verbally harassing batchmates, teachers, and even friends of his victims.
Razon made a conscious decision to publicize matters while the country is under community quarantine because she was “concerned for the lives on the receiving end, who are in isolation and unable to escape their homes.” Towards the end of her post, she writes: “We must lift each other up in times of uncertainty. Standing up to my attacker gave me empowerment and a massive sense of relief. Relief that many others can finally have their answers.”
No sanctions have yet been made public, and Picardal has yet to release a statement.
