#ProtectKiko is the internet’s response to “FB boomers”

According to the screenshots of his daughter Frankie’s Twitter thread on her secondary account, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan trended through the #OustKiko. The 19-year-old singer tweeted that “FB boomers” are after her dad with the goal of ousting the senator from his post as chair of the constitutional committee.

Frankie further explains that the reason why she’s using her secondary account is because she knows she’s being monitored by the administration. Yikes!

If the move to oust Sen. Pangilinan succeeds, the current administration may have the power to remove term limits—allowing certain politicians to remain in power for longer. Other effects of his probable ousting would be constitutional change.

Once asked by ABS-CBN News about the issue, Sen. Pangilinan said, “I am ready to give up the post anytime if asked by the Senate leadership but certainly not because of the ‘clamor’ of paid online trolls.”

A lot rallied behind the senator, including political figures like Samira Gutoc, who says we should #OustTheTurtle instead. Netizens in support of the senator also used the hashtag #ProtectKiko, which started trending a few hours after #OustKiko.
