Kooky modern farmhouse furniture for your cozy-chic space

While Classic Blue is the official Color of the Year, it seems many of us have decided to ignore that memo and have set our eyes on the color green. Green is taking the spotlight not just in fashion and beauty, but also interior design. Trading the synthetic aesthetic for something homier and natural, almost everyone I know is adding the hue in their homes by becoming certified plant parents. To make your greens truly pop, furnish your home with complementary interior design elements to complete the vibe you’re going for.

The modern farmhouse design, with its rustic charm is all the rage these days. Mixing industrial elements with the pastoral flourish of wooden accents, it’s a hit with cottage/farmcore enthusiasts and minimalists alike. A lot of us are looking to inject more nature into our (sometimes suffocating) urban life.

We’ve rounded up a list of kooky modern farmhouse furniture and ornaments that will turn your interior oh-so-cozy and cute.

Nooke half moon mirror and side table

In their own words, Nooke is a furniture and homeware store for “modern nesting necessities.” We could all use a little more intimacy and magic in our homes. Their half-moon mirror and side table might just do the trick.

There’s something romantic about their half-moon mirror with its dark mahogany stained wooden frame. While you’re free to have it hanging on your wall (It comes with D rings so you’ll just need to purchase a sturdy screw), consider letting it sit on a side table or dresser. It’s also very Instagrammable. The likes of Kimi Juan and Martine Ho have given it their seal of approval if you needed some convincing. Apart from their minimalist side table, their wave shelf is also something that can transform your room with its dynamic profile.

Nooke delivers within Metro Manila and you can order your favorite piece on their website. They also have stocks available at Munimuni Studio in Makati.

Radiante Candles Co. torso candle

Cebu-based Radiante Candles Co. makes these gorgeous torso candles made with a blend of soywax and beeswax. The mix gives their candles a creamy look and produces negative ions that help neutralize pollutants when burned. They not only help eliminate dust and odor, but they also smell amazing.

The candles come in different tones and scents. For the female torso, you can choose from vanilla-scented ivory, English pear and freesia-scented rose quartz, Earl Grey and cucumber-scented ash and mulled wine-scented sepia. Their male torso variant comes in lime and basil-scented ivory and mandarin-scented noir.

Radiante Candles Co. ships nationwide so you can definitely get your hands on these hand-poured beauties.

Lamana tripodal stool

Lamana is the exclusive Philippine partner of collaborative brand Ishinomaki Laboratory. The Japan-based company is home to creative, multifunctional and smart designer furniture. During its humble beginning, it started as a workshop for those devastated by a 2011 tsunami. It has since branched out to empowering communities in different countries through the Made in Local initiative. It seeks to help local craftsmen by assisting them in restoring local stores and conducting workshops in Manila.

One of their locally made items is a signature is a tripodal stool that has a slanted front leg which makes it not only eye-catching but very stable as well. The gap in the middle provides cable space for a table lamp or your phone charger should you decide to turn it into a bedside table. No more worrying about smushed cables or needing to stick them to the sides of your tables. Photographed along with it here are the Ishinomaki High Stool and Ishinomaki Bird which you can assemble yourself when you buy a kit. They look so cute together that I can’t help but want the entire set.

You can shop for their products on Lamana’s website.

Trademark Kawpeng Designs modular puppy station

Trademark Kawpeng Designs are here to make custom pieces that are striking and practical. The brainchild of designer (and choreographer) Matti Kawpeng, its products embody the minimalist functionality of the Scandinavian design. Details like built-in catchalls prove that they’re thoughtfully made with your comfort in mind.

When we saw the all-in-one modular puppy station, it was love at first sight. It has an elevated bed, a feeding station, and storage space for your furbaby’s toys and essentials. It’s a must-have for anyone who loves to treat their pet like royalty. Other notable mentions from their catalog are the art deco-modern valet station, the contemporary-industrial gin cart and modular L-shaped office table with a built-in catch-all.

Slide into their DMs if you want to order yours or have a custom request in mind.

Bench Ambassadors sewing machine table

Not to be confused with the local clothing brand, Bench Ambassador is a shop that specializes in refurbishing, repurposing and restoring old furniture and materials. A wonderful example is their repurposed Singer sewing machine table. This one utilizes an old Narra slab with a dark gray finish for the tabletop which contrasted well with the sewing machine legs painted in bright red.

Most of their items are chairs and tables but they also have little oddities like vintage flatirons you can collect. Some of our favorites from their shops are the Madre de Cacao driftwood planter, caimito branch bird perch, and console table made out of repurposed yakal staircase steps.

Renditions Furniture peace sign lamp

Renditions Furniture is a  family business specializing in handcrafted high-end wooden furniture. They boast of a wide array of classic, contemporary and Mediterranean inspired mahogany pieces. Something is bound to catch your eye like their peace sign lamp. With a yellow wash finish, its peace symbol-shaped base holds a white cloth shade. Adding that in your room might be the key for a little more serenity in your space.

Other products that also caught our eye are their gadget stands, reeded sleigh bed, and their Collectors coffee table. They also do custom work on a case-to-case basis.

You can DM them for orders or visit their showroom located at Festival Supermall Alabang.

Alwagi ladder shelf

Alwagi is an old Tagalog word for carpenter and the name of this contemporary woodworks shop. They create furniture from recycled lumber and one of their goodies is a ladder shelf. Perfect indoors or outdoors, you can use it as a plant rack or place your books and other knick-knacks on it.

It’s a new brand so they’re still in the process of expanding their selection. But we’re definitely looking forward to seeing what other cute space savers we can get from them in the future. Get yours by shooting them a DM.

Rastrullo Design Ragno chair

Rastrullo Design Studio features the works of designer Joseph Gonzalez-Rastrullo. Favoring versatility, they create using various materials such as acrylic, rattan, mahogany, wicker, iron and metallic wires. Also delving into furniture retail under the brand Manolo living, their team aims to reinterpret Filipino heritage with their pieces.

One of their prized designs is the Ragno chair made in abaca and resembling a spider web. The striking piece was showcased and turned heads at a Philippine International Furniture Show. Other goodies in their arsenal are their metal wire tables and sombrero light fixtures.

You can reach the team on their website or you can visit their office in Manila.
