Week in review: Sunnies Face Perfector, Britory Korea, Bench Beauty lip tattoo

This was a big week for beauty lovers.

Sunnies Face launched Perfector, a dual-ended blur and balm stick. “Blur is a soft-focus silky matte primer while Balm is a translucent illuminating gel balm—two lightweight pigment-free formulas to perfect the bare skin look,” reads the Sunnies Face IG.

Blur functions like a mattifier, while the balm, a dewy illuminator. The brand’s site has a helpful guide, with a face map identifying sections of the face to apply the blur or balm.

For fans of the no-makeup look, or people in a quar-inspired funk who’re unable to conduct a beauty regimen under the existential pressures of a pandemic, the dual stick is ideal. It doesn’t require much expertise, no other products required for layering. Simply apply on your face in soothing motions as you ponder your dystopian future.

Breaking the glass skin ceiling

Multitasker Bela Padilla is the face and co-owner of Korean brand Britory, pronounced “Braɪt(ə)ri,” which also launched this week. Guests of the event, who attended via Zoom, were sent carry-on-size luggage filled with K-beauty products, presumably to remind attendees that shopping and travel are but a zoom-wallpaper away from reality.

Britory, which refers to itself as “next generation” innovation skincare, debuted two new products to deliver glass skin. Britory Like Snow Serum contains niacinamide (provides radiance and luminosity), arbutin (lightens hyperpigmentation), ceramide (locks in moisture), galactomyces ferment filtrate (treats acne and controls sebum) and walnut leaf extract (tightens skin). Britory Like Snow Cream softens skin, utilizing panthenol to improve skin hydration and neem tree flower extract to reduce acne and scars.

Britory Like Snow Serum for Glass Skin retails for P899, while Britory Like Snow Cream for Glass Skin for P990. Available at Shopee and Lazada.

Lip tattoo that doesn’t hurt

My grandma got a lip tattoo in the early ’90s—including a brow tattoo. Recently, there’s been a resurgence of lip tattoos in the US, which ouch. Bench Beauty launched their own version, though this one’s pretty painless. A lip stain that resembles a tattoo effect, the lip color isn’t highly pigmented, like those hi-def lipsticks. Instead the product sinks into the lip for a more subtle color payoff.
