Local clothing brand Bench had the internet in a bit of frenzy last Wednesday, May 27, when they posted a teaser with the words “Your crush, landing soon.” It didn’t take long for people to figure out that everybody’s favorite “Crash Landing on You” (CLOY) captain might be the brand’s newest ambassador. In an interview with People Asia, chairman of Suyen Corporation Ben Chan revealed, “It’s not that we’re getting Hyun Bin. We’ve gotten him already!”
As part of the deal, the actor will be appearing on billboards in the metro while wearing the latest from Bench’s line. It looks like we can also look forward to some eye candy once when we’re back to commuting or driving to our offices or schools. Chan shares that a team had already flown to Korea earlier this year for a photoshoot. “Getting Hyun Bin was a no-brainer. Of course, he’s very pleasant and good-looking, facts not lost on countless people who have watched him in CLOY,” he said about the decision to get him on board.
Bench is known for signing international stars as brand ambassadors. Since 2012, the company has also been flying in their South Korean Benchsetters such as Park Shin Hye, Lee Min Ho, and K-pop girl group Twice. So, of course, CLOY fans are wondering whether they’ll be seeing Hyun Bin in the flesh soon. Chan’s answer? “Only God can tell. Once it’s safe for everyone to travel, he’s definitely flying to Manila.”
If that wasn’t enough to get you all tickled pink, Chan adds that he has a bonus surprise for K-drama fans. “Empress Ki” star and Bench Fragrances ambassador Ji Chang-wook will also be coming for a special Manila appearance.
Due to the travel restrictions and safety protocols related to COVID-19, fans might have to wait just a little longer to meet their favorite Korean matinee idols. “Hopefully, we will do that late this year. But to be on the safe side, we might do it early next year instead,” says Chan.
If Yoon Se-ri was able to wait for her Captain Ri, we can too.
