Taylor Swift can’t stop gifting us with hits, it seems. On her birthday, Dec. 13, just three days after she released her surprise ninth album and “Folklore” follow-up “Evermore,” the singer dropped something new. This time, it was a remix of “Willow,” the first single from the album and its opening track.
“Not to be all ‘iTs mY BiRtHdAY & I jUsT wAnNa DaNcE’ but… it is and I do. So here’s the willow dancing witch version, remixed by Elvira, a badass female producer I really respect,” Swift posted on Twitter.
True to her word, the remix has very dark witch vibes. It also turned the folksy song into a bop, making it into a song you could actually dance to—maybe with your coven when we can party again?
On another note, we initially thought that Elvira was a reference to “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.” This is Taylor, the same person who created multiple pseudonyms to hide her own and her loved ones’ producer roles on her track, so it wasn’t that farfetched. However, it turns out Elvira is short for Elvira Anderfjärd, an up-and-coming Swedish producer.
