Call me dramatic, but I’m one of those makeup enthusiasts who think that a good pair of false eyelashes elevates the entire look tenfold. However, the usual glue-on falsies may be uncomfortable for some and can get you in a literally sticky situation. So let me convince you to switch to magnetic eyelashes.
I recently tried magnetic eyelashes for the first time with Southeast Asian beauty brand Luxx Lash, and I am not kidding when I say that they made me feel like a bad b*tch. False lashes bring a lot of attention to your eyes, but since they’re mostly one use only, it’s hard to experiment with different looks without feeling wasteful. If you’re someone who tries different looks and experiments with makeup for fun, magnetic lashes are just what your beauty kit needs.
For those who aren’t used to putting on false lashes, there might be a little learning curve to mastering the magnetic ones, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time (just a few tears here and there, but trust me, it’s worth it). And unlike regular false eyelashes, magnetic lashes won’t leave you struggling to take them out or scrubbing leftover adhesives days later.
They’re less messy
Don’t you just hate it when your eye look is completely ruined just because of a teeny tiny accident? Since magnetic lashes don’t use sticky adhesives, they’re less likely to smear your bold eye looks and won’t get stuck on your natural lashes. (Just make sure you put them on properly.) All you have to do is curl your lashes first (you can apply mascara too if you prefer) then place the bottom lashes as close to your lash line as possible before attaching the top lash. Be careful not to let the magnets pinch your skin.
They have fewer chances of falling off
One thing that annoys me when it comes to false eyelashes is the possibility of losing them during a long night out. There have been times when the lash fell off my eyelid because the glue failed to do its job. Magnetic lashes reduce the chances of this happening because they rely on magnets sandwiching your natural lashes to stay together. If they get misaligned, you just need to slide the magnets forward or sideways to take them off then snap them right back on. Although they may be easy to remove, they’re still strong enough to stay on your lids for an entire day.
They’re safer and more sustainable
A common reason for those who don’t often wear false lashes is the fear that the glue’s ingredients aren’t completely safe for the eyes. If they aren’t used correctly or washed off properly, the chemicals in eyelash glue could irritate your eyes or worse: seal them shut. Since magnetic lashes don’t rely on separate adhesives, you can wash and use them over and over again without worrying about the chemicals found in eyelash glue.
Several brands are now opting to produce sustainable and affordable beauty products that are safe for everyone. But though faux silk lashes like those from Luxx Lash are cruelty-free, vegan and non-toxic, it would still be best to check if you have any allergies to magnetic materials before buying yourself a pair.
They come in different styles
Similar to temporary eyelashes, you can cop magnetic lashes in different styles depending on the vibe you want. The Luxx Lashes come in four styles: The lightweight and feathery pair Bonita, the soft and criss-cross pair Paige, the long and voluminous pair Aeva, and what I got—the natural and lightweight pair Elle. For less than P2000, you can switch up the vibe of your makeup look in less than a minute.
Although the vibe may vary depending on your eye shape, Elle made my small eyes look rounder and accentuated the fairy elf look that I was going for. Plus, they weren’t sticky or heavy on the lids at all.
Lastly, they look great
I cannot stress this enough: False eyelashes are makeup game changers. If you’re really down to try something new that’ll make your eyes pop, copping a pair of magnetic lashes is the way to go.
