If you’re still getting major withdrawals from the end of “Crash Landing On You,” the Korean drama mega hit that had everyone shipping the reel-to-real couple Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin, have I got news for you.
No, it’s not getting another season (with how conclusive that finale was, I don’t know how they would go about doing a sequel, TBH). But it’s getting the next best thing—a whole damn musical adaptation.
Production companies Pop Music and T2N Media will be staging the show in 2022, reports Soompi. The article also quotes Pop Music’s CEO Kim Jin Seok who said, “We concluded the deal for publication rights with Studio Dragon, and we plan to start choosing the main staff and begin casting. We will do our best to create a good project. In particular, since it’s a project in which the fame of the source IP (intellectual property) is very large, we’ve already received inquiries from many actors and foreign production companies.”
Performances are going to start around mid-2022, apparently. I’ve already been feeling very sore about the lack of full-scale large theater productions in this pandemic (when will it ever be safe for us to go out again!!!), and I’m honestly more than a li’l jealous that South Korea already has a solid production in the works. Oh well, I hope it receives the “Hamilton” treatment and gets an official recording of its stage play.
It would also be really great if the show comes to these shores when times are better. Fingers crossed.
