Are BTS fashion kings? Louis Vuitton says so

Louis Vuitton has just announced the über popular K-pop boy group BTS has its latest brand ambassador. F*cking finally, I say.

It’s a bit surprising, considering that the boys have turned down big luxury houses before, but we saw signs of this coming. During the Grammys, when the band was robbed, they wore custom LV suits.

Virgil Abloh, LV’s current director for men’s fashion and the creator of the revolutionary brand Off White, stated, “I am delighted BTS are joining Louis Vuitton today. I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on.”

“Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us,” the boys also said.

I’m so glad that BTS is getting more and more recognition from the fashion industry. The boys are stalwarts in fashion—here’s why.

Even though this current era of pop is defined by over-the-top and iconic outfits, that’s only ever really been true for female pop stars. There’s been a dearth of actual interesting and unpredictable looks from male pop stars, save for Harry Styles, Jaden Smith and Lil Nas X in recent years.

But the Bangtan boys have been serving us that style we’ve been starving for since day one. They fully understood the game, that being pop stars means not just making bops but also showing up with great looks. Each of the members also have their own distinct sense of style, from Jin’s clean and sophisticated “Worldwide Handsome” runway looks to Namjoon’s flair for dramatics. We also wrote about J-Hope’s playful and adventurous style recently because we can’t get enough of it.

The boys aren’t just stylish, they’re fashion-conscious and have been breaking style gender norms for ages. They frequently don gender neutral outfits, and Namjoon casually wore skirts long before TikTok made the “femboy fashion” trend. Jungkook described great style to Vanity Fair as “wearing anything you like, regardless of gender.”

Fashion kings, I tell you.
